China’s number one selling smartphone brand OPPO has launched the new Find X3 Pro, a smartphone featuring exclusive ringtones and alerts composed by Award-winning composer HANS ZIMMER. With an Oscar, two Golden Globes, and three Grammys in his trophy cabinet, it’s little surprise that the world-renowned composer was at the top of the tech giant’s list to curate the sounds for its latest model.
The Find X 3 Series is centred around human innovation and exploration, and Hans collaborated with the OPPO team to reflect the spirit of the phone through the power of music. The musical maestro drew upon his rich experience of scoring some of the world’s most iconic soundtracks by creating an equally rich palette of sounds for the phone.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Zimmer said: “Our whole world changed because of the pandemic, and it changed in one very fundamental way. The idea of physical contact has disappeared. I felt somehow that it was my duty as a musician to figure out how to replace a little bit of that spirit. That’s what our phones are doing these days, they connect us. I want this ringtone to open a door that says there’s a possibility to feel something.”
The Brand Partnerships team were instrumental in executing this partnership and played a large role in the creative itself. In true 4th Floor collaborative style, our amazing Production Team were also heavily involved – remotely directing, as well as editing and grading, the BTS videos and below Hans Zimmer interview discussing what inspired him to work on this project and how OPPO’s key messaging influenced his compositions. In addition, our in-house Audio Engineer assisted with sound design on assets, and produced a soundscape using Han’s work. At the helm was Andre Carroll, Head of Brand Partnerships, who said “Listening to Hans describe his thoughts on the power of human connectivity through music and technology was truly inspirational. The team over at OPPO were collaborative, innovative and ambitious in their plans for Find X 3 Series – really ensuring that the themes and creative were front and centre. Being able to deliver this campaign remotely alongside our 4th Floor Creative colleagues in production and sound design as well as the Sony Masterworks team has been an absolute pleasure and testament to how they’ve only gone from strength to strength this past year – despite its challenges.”
